Position Title: Director of Lactation Services
Hiring Company/Organization: Women’s Birth and Wellness Center
Job Location: Chapel Hill, NC
Job Type: Full-time
Women’s Birth and Wellness Center, one of the largest freestanding birth centers in the US, is hiring a Director of Lactation Services. The right applicant will be excited to both provide direct lactation patient care and think “big picture” about lactation outreach, education, and research.
Located in the rapidly growing Research Triangle region of North Carolina, WBWC was founded in 1996. We are dedicated to providing women of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds with comprehensive primary, maternity and lactation healthcare throughout the life cycle. Breastfeeding education is integrated into patient care from the first prenatal visit and WBWC operates a full-service outpatient lactation clinic. The lactation services are enhanced by the WBWC Boutique which rents hospital-grade pumps and provides nursing bra and pump flange fittings, a range of breastfeeding equipment, and more. The Director of Lactation Services position is an opportunity to work in a setting where breastfeeding and birth are normalized and supported, and where you are part of a team caring for dyads holistically.
As Director of Lactation Services, you have a high degree of independence and the opportunity to directly effect change where and when you see a need. This position is shaped by your initiative and passions – specific past examples include: grant-funded outreach to underserved communities, hosting a World Breastfeeding Week celebration, initiating a Silverettes rental program through the Boutique, presenting innovative practices in a variety of conference settings, and developing and leading a QI project on disparities in breastfeeding outcomes.
