The Lactation Consultants are responsible for supporting the practice of breastfeeding at the three acute care hospitals of Main Line Health. Responsibilities include education, consultation, and support to expectant/new mothers, family members, the Nursing Staff, Attending Physicians, Midwives, and OB/GYN Residents. Lactation Consultants also assist with the promotion of health maintenance of mothers and newborns delivering at MLHS.
Knowledge of fetal, newborn, and maternal anatomy/physiology.
Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline preferred.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, REGISTRATION
Current nursing license to practice in Pennsylvania preferred.
Certification with the International Board Lactation Consultants Examiners required.
A minimum of two years’ experience providing health care and /or education in Women’s Health preferred.
