This month, we’re excited to share information from the Tennessee Lactation Consultant Association (TNLCA).

Our middle TN chapter was founded in 2005.  There were some wonderful IBCLCs that laid a great foundation and paved the way for the current chapter, which really experienced some new growth in 2019.  A few years ago, TNLCA had lost some momentum and meeting attendance began to dwindle. But, 2019 was a year of renewal and growth!  TNLCA’s first meeting of 2019 had six members present, but their last meeting of the year had over 20 members present.  TNLCA is excited to be gaining some new momentum!

The chapter has new plans on the horizon for 2020, including guest speakers at each of their quarterly meetings. They also plan on conducting topical discussions on various research articles, which they will send out to members ahead of each meeting so they can prepare for an engaging discussion.

The greater Nashville area is experiencing tremendous growth; on average, more than 100 people are moving to middle TN each day!  TNLCA serves as a great place to connect with fellow IBCLCs and other lactation-support workers and form a stronger network in the birth community to better serve the needs of our families.
