This month we shine a spotlight on WPLCA, which is loosely based in the Pittsburgh area. This 48-member Chapter keeps busy planning excellent education opportunities for its members and other lactation and birth professionals in their geographic area. This April 4, the WPLCA will host a day of professional education at Uniontown Hospital featuring nationally-known speakers and very current topics.
In 2015 the WPLCA honored 3 chapter members who were celebrating their 30-year anniversaries as IBCLCs! Martha Peelor, Becky Ulke and Nellie Wiancko are proud to be members of their local USLCA Chapter and to serve the breastfeeding families of Pennsylvania.
This chapter is proud of its members, who serve in a wide range of practice settings. They work hard to secure a variety of locations for their meetings and educational offerings, making contacts through their members and their members’ networks to request places to hold their events. An Executive Committee runs their chapter, which is now actively working toward non-profit status. The WPLCA has a beautiful and helpful website located at http://wplca.net.

If you have questions or would like to inquire about forming your own USLCA Chapter, please contact Ginger Carney, our Director of Member Services and Chapters via email at membership@uslca.org.
Also, I use to work at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, I am available to see mothers in lower PA as we did have many moms deliver from PA @ Carroll Family Birth Place.
Thanks, Susan

Hello, I am an IBCLC from Maryland. I work at a hospital, but also work as a Private Practice IBCLC. I am a board member of the Maryland Breastfeeding Coalition. We also have a group of IBCLCs and other professionals that work with Lactating mothers/families and have meetings in Towson.
I am gathering information about forming a Chapter and/or increasing our Coalition Members and want to type up a handout because many are confused as to the difference of the groups and the benefits of one vs. the other.
I assume an USLCA chapter is for professionals or just IBCLCs? I know anyone that supports breastfeeding can join the coalition. Is there a way to start a chapter in Maryland and what is involved. I believe Katy Linda took over for Peg Murrill for our Towson Group and they may have already contacted you regarding this. Please give me a call @ 443-293-7364 and in the meantime, I will search for online info. I am an ILCA member and a USLCA member.
Thank you very much,
Susan Weyer, RN, IBCLC Birth & Breastfeed with Confident – http://www.breastfeedingmaryland.com
