2016 USLCA President’s Award

Congratulations to the 2016 winner!

The 2016 Presidential Award goes to Laurie Beck, RN, MSN, IBCLC, RLC

The United States Lactation Consultant Association (USLCA) has honored Laurie Beck, RN, MSN, IBCLC, RLC with its prestigious President’s Award at its 2016 Annual General Meeting. Laurie, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), works for Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, and also maintains a private practice. Ms. Beck has displayed extraordinary dedication and commitment to USLCA. After completing her term as President, she graciously stepped in as Director of Professional Development when the previous Director was unable to complete her term. Upon completion of that term, she again stayed on to work closely with the professional development committee. During this past year, Laurie spent hundreds of hours working on USLCA’s application for provider status with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC.) This accreditation is a cornerstone of USLCA’s ability to provide value to its members by offering continuing education credit for nurse professionals.

In addition to working for this ANCC status, Laurie works with the Professional Development Committee to ensure that our webinars meet the requirements of the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) as well as the high standards for all USLCA educational offerings. USLCA President Debi Ferrarello, MSN, MS, RN, IBCLC, RLC says that Laurie “is an RN whose heart is for the IBCLC and all that we stand for. She helped to launch the USLCA and continues to support our professional organization with her time, effort, and considerable passion to this day. It is not an understatement to say that USLCA would not be where we are today without the tenacity, commitment, and hard work of Laurie Beck and we are very grateful.”

USLCA is the professional association for the IBCLC in the U.S. Through efforts in leadership, advocacy, professional development, and research, USLCA works to advance the IBCLC, the national standard in professional lactation care. By working to advance the IBCLC, USLCA envisions a nation where all families have access to IBCLC care as a foundation of optimal health and wellness.
