2016 USLCA Outstanding Chapter Award

Congratulations to the 2016 winners and finalists!

The 2016 Outstanding Chapter Award goes to IowaLCA

Beth at 2016 Gov ConfThe United States Lactation Consultant Association (USLCA) has recognized its Iowa chapter, the Iowa Lactation Consultant Association, with its first ever Outstanding Chapter Award. This chapter was selected because of their participation in chapter conference calls and their cooperation and timeliness with required documents as an official chapter of USLCA. In addition, the percentage of IowaLCA membership who also hold membership in USLCA stands at 66%, one of the highest of any USLCA Chapter. They have shown a true commitment to maintaining their official status and recently promoted USLCA at the Iowa Governor’s Conference in April. They have been one of the most involved, cooperative, and compliant chapters consistently throughout the year!

USLCA Chapters allow groups of clinical lactation professionals within a geographic area, state, or region to join together to work toward the mission of USLCA. Chapters are the workforce of USLCA, holding conferences to create opportunities for required continuing education for IBCLCs, facilitating working groups to advocate for each state’s IBCLC licensure efforts, and providing networking events to allow for collaboration in the provision of breastfeeding support interventions and programs that are culturally and demographically appropriate for each area. Membership in both a local chapter and USLCA allows individuals to reap valuable and separate but complementary benefits from each. Many future USLCA Committee Heads and Board Members discover their passion for advocating for the IBCLC profession while participating in their local chapter.

USLCA is the professional association for the IBCLC in the U.S. Through efforts in leadership, advocacy, professional development, and research, USLCA works to advance the IBCLC, the national standard in professional lactation care. By working to advance the IBCLC, USLCA envisions a nation where all families have access to IBCLC care as a foundation of optimal health and wellness.
