We love highlighting the activities of our amazing USLCA chapters! This month, we’re excited to share information from the Kentuckiana Lactation Improvement Coalition (KLIC).
KLIC works to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana. The chapter advocates for the professional recognition of the IBCLC as a vital part of the allied health team. It collaborates with breastfeeding supporters at all professional and lay levels, including nurses, physicians, certified lactation counselors (CLC), La Leche League Leaders (LLL-L), and public health staff.
The chapter’s mission is:
- To promote knowledge, attitudes, and practices concerning breastfeeding that are evidence-based and consistent within and between various healthcare providers.
- To promote, protect, and supports breastfeeding in the private and public sectors.
- To facilitate the development of and referral to breastfeeding support networks and Lactation Consultants for clients and healthcare providers.
- To protect the rights of mother and child to establish and continue a breastfeeding relationship.
Join KLIC live on August 31st and September 2nd for their 2021 Kentucky Virtual Breastfeeding Conference, featuring Dr. Jane Morton, MD and Fiona Lang-Sharpe, NAMCW, IBCLC, RLC, CLD, LCE, LCCE. This conference will be recorded and available for viewing for a limited time. View more details here.
