The 2018 President’s Award goes to Annie Frisbie, IBCLC
Annie Frisbie recently published the book Paperless Practice for the IBCLC, which is an incredibly deep look into the mechanics exactly to take your private IBCLC practice digital and contains very heavily researched info on how to follow HIPAA and HITECH. It is an excellent example of how to ensure that what IBCLCs do is in line with how things are done across the board. I was so impressed with her commitment to the credential and her explanations on how following her suggestions can lead to better respect for the profession, assist in licensure and reimbursement efforts, and act as a lever to ensure that we don’t kick ourselves in the foot by skipping steps or being nonchalant about getting paid for our work outside of institutions. Plus, she writes about collaboration among IBCLCs in those metropolitan areas where there is competition, and her attitude about cooperation and compassion shines through.
