Who has something to say about human lactation, lactation care, and our profession? Well, it turns out that A LOT OF US DO. We do love to chat about these things, don’t we? We like to debate, to discuss, to turn things over and over to find the important bits.
Lactation care providers are an engaged and communicative group on the whole! Rightly so – we’re a group of individuals with a common mission who come from an incredibly diverse background. We are on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, and we are producing blogs, podcasts, trainings, books, and more, especially now that the COVID-19 pandemic has limited our ability to gather in groups. There is so much happening in our field right now, and there has never been a better time to capture some of it to share with you.
As an organization, we have committed to being a convener of resources for lactation care providers. We’re a professional association representing literally thousands of different people who have widely varying insights and opinions on the things that matter in our work. It’s time to amplify their voices and get their thoughts and ideas out there to all of you!
USLCA has built a new blog called Amplify to facilitate this sharing of viewpoints across our membership. Amplify will be a place where folks can go to read pieces written by lactation care providers and others from all over our nation. Our guest bloggers will bring fresh perspectives on important topics. They will inspire you and probably challenge some of your beliefs. They’ll get you to think about the work we do and how we do it. We’ll be inviting some to go back into the history of our profession and reflect on how we got to where we are. We’ll talk to people who have something to say about where we should be going in the future.
Would you like to be featured in Amplify? Let us know! If you would like to get your thoughts and insights out there but are not comfortable writing, we can interview you over the phone or on a virtual call and get that written up for you. Amplify is a way for you to share what’s on your mind as a lactation care provider.
Here are some of the things we’d love to hear about:
- History – your work over the years, your involvement with establishing something, your experiences at past conferences, etc.
- Modern – what you’re thinking about currently trending topics in lactation, problems or issues you are working to resolve – maybe with a novel concept or a brilliant plan!, etc.
- Future – what you see ahead for our field, your career plans, your vision or aspiration for the potential of our field to make an impact, etc.
